At 3:13 p.m. a Mazda Miata convertible, driven by a 17-year-old boy with the 15-year-old as a passenger, was headed east on County Line Road near Spring Time Street near the Pasco County-Hernando County line, troopers said. A tow truck reversed from a driveway into the street, and the convertible hit its flatbed.

The girl died at the scene, troopers said. Neither driver was injured. None of those involved have been named.

The Florida Highway Patrol stopped naming those involved in traffic collisions earlier this year due to its interpretation of Marsy’s Law, a constitutional amendment passed in 2018 that was designed to protect victims

The world loves boring car colors, and here’s the latest proof

It takes nothing more than a glance at a busy parking lot or a quick scroll through a handful of online car configurators to see which colors are the most popular for new cars in America. For those who relish the full spectrum of the rainbow, it’s dire. The most popular color, according to data provided by iSeeCars.com, is white, followed closely by black. Then gray, then silver. It’s all very monochromatic. These grayscale tones constitute 77.1% of the total.

The first vibrant shade to make an appearance on the list is red at No. 5 with just over 10% of color share. Blue is next at 9%, and then things fall off dramatically. To put the lack of color into perspective, we put together this quick pie chart. Naturally, each slice is colored to match its automotive hue.

We know some of those slices of pie are pretty dinky,

Protester charged with damaging vehicle of lawyer for ex-cop charged in George Floyd case

A 24-year-old has been charged with a felony after a group of angry protesters damaged the vehicle of a lawyer for a fired Minneapolis police officer implicated in the death of George Floyd.

Edith N. Okerlund, 24, of St. Paul, appeared in Hennepin County District Court on Friday on charges of first-degree property damage, a felony, and gross-misdemeanor riot in connection with attorney Thomas Plunkett’s allegations that demonstrators threatened him, client J. Alexander Kueng, co-defendant Thomas Lane and another defense lawyer as they left the courthouse after a hearing last month.

Plunkett wrote in a memo filed in court on Oct. 1 that the encounter further supports the defense’s call for the four former officers’ trials to be moved out of Hennepin County.

Okerlund was arrested and jailed Wednesday, then released two days later. Messages were left for her Sunday seeking comment.

Defense attorney Jordan Kushner said Sunday that Okerlund

Epic Games Introduces Unreal Engine Human-Machine Interface (HMI) Initiative, Alliances and Automoti

Epic Games announced a new HMI initiative to enable the creation of automotive infotainment and digital cockpit experiences. According to the company, General Motors’ not yet revealed GMC HUMMER EV will be the first vehicle to use Unreal Engine HMI in its digital cockpit, with more details to come at the car’s October 20th unveiling.

Unreal Engine is designed to provide key features for design driven development. These include support for version control, visual scripting via Blueprints, and direct access to a C++ codebase that enables more functionality to be exposed. Rather than passively producing reference images for engineers to implement, this enables designers to directly collaborate with engineers and actively deploy designs into the vehicle.

Unreal Engine currently supports hardware platforms including the Qualcomm Snapdragon Automotive Platform, Siili Auto’s bespoke infotainment systems, and Vectorform’s digital product and customer experience platform. Support for the QNX Neutrino RTOS, a microkernel real-time

LMP Automotive Holdings agrees to purchase majority stake in N.Y. dealership group for $608 million

The deal includes 20 franchises at 17 rooftops, all in New York. The Atlantic dealerships and storage facility are expected to generate an estimated $1.6 billion in revenue and $38 million in net income on an annualized basis in 2021, LMP said. The deal will be partially financed, which includes seller financing, and funded through company cash. The group will retain ownership of the real estate, which LMP will lease for five years, Staluppi Sr. said.

“It’s a good opportunity for them; it’s a good opportunity for my people,” Staluppi Sr. said. “None of my business will change. All of the employees stay in place. I’m still the boss.”

If all of the acquisitions LMP announced this year close, including Atlantic Auto Group, LMP’s 26 rooftops will represent 33 franchises: five Toyota, two Lexus, three Honda, one Subaru, six Hyundai, three Genesis, three Kia, four Chevrolet, two GMC, two Cadillac

Man In Crisis Fires Shot At Police Vehicle: Patch PM

FRANKLIN, MA — Happy Monday, happy Indigenous People’s Day, and happy Columbus Day — and welcome to what is setting up to be a crisp, sometimes wet week.

It was a jarring early start to the week for Franklin police and members of the regional Metro-LEC SWAT team. Police responded to a Franklin apartment complex on Sunday just before 1 p.m. after a report of a man threatening people with a gun. When police arrived, the man fired several shots at an armored police vehicle, but didn’t hit any officers or bystanders, police said.

The SWAT team used sponge bullets, Tasers and dogs to subdue the man. He was taken to a local hospital for minor injuries, and for a mental health evaluation. Police did not immediately announce any charges pending an investigation.

Franklin Chief Thomas Lynch praised the “incredible restraint” shown during the incident.

“Results like this are not

Boise Bicycle Project holiday bike giveaway for kids

The pandemic has been extremely successful at nixing our social calendars, taking down events left and right.

Even those that are rescheduled for a month or two out ultimately get postponed to 2021 or canceled altogether.

It’s an outcome that we are pretty used to by now.

But some events must go on, because COVID-19 is not about to mess up a tradition that brings joy and happiness to hundreds of children this Christmas.

The Boise Bicycle Project hosts a Holiday Kids Bike Giveaway every year, and this year will be no exception. With strict safety protocols in place, this year’s big giveaway is set for Dec. 19.

BBP plans to hand out around 500 bikes to children ages 4-11 who were referred “by local nonprofit organizations, schools, social workers, after school programs, and other like-minded organizations,” according to its website.

However, in order to customize the dream bikes that
