Car fire damages Stratford garage

STRATFORD — Stratford firefighters extinguished a car fire that spread to a garage on College Street around 12:15 a.m. Sunday.

Dispatched to a car fire, the first lieutenant to arrive on scene reported the vehicle was heavily involved with a detached garage nearby, and upgraded the call to a structure fire.

While other units were en route, they were diverted to a report of an indoor gas leak at another location.

The car fire was knocked down with minimal damage to the garage, according to the Stratford Professional Firefighters Facebook page.

One engine from Milford was requested to standby for coverage during the two incidents.
