LORAIN, Ohio — A 40-year-old man died after crashing his motorized bicycle into a utility pole Tuesday afternoon, police say.
Michael Mahan of Lorain died in the crash that happened just after 1 p.m. at the intersection of Fulton Road and East 28th Street, Lorain police said in a news release.
Mahan was thrown from the bike after he lost control during a left-hand turn onto East 28th Street and crashed into a utility pole, police said.
MetroHealth LifeFlight took Mahan to the hospital where he later died from his injuries, police said.
Mahan was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
This crash marks the fifth fatal crash in Lorain, police said, and is under investigation.
