Man, 19, found dead in a bullet-riddled car in Sunrise

A 19-year-old man was found shot to death in the driver’s seat of a bullet-riddled car at the Sunrise on the Green apartment complex, according to city police.

The shooting happened at about 1:45 a.m. Monday in the residential parking lot at 4001 North University Drive.

The victim — whose identity was not disclosed by police — was found behind the wheel of a gray sedan by Sunrise police officers, who went to the location after 911 callers reported hearing gunshots.

The man had at least one gunshot wound and was pronounced dead by first responders, according to Officer Christopher Piper, spokesman for the Sunrise Police Department.

Bullet holes were visible on the car’s passenger-side windshield and driver’s side window.

Police are searching for any surveillance video or witnesses that were in the area.

“It’s kind of a whodunnit right now,” Piper said.
