A man was arrested Tuesday morning after allegedly stealing a car at a Des Moines QuikTrip convenience store with two people inside the vehicle.
Just before 6 a.m. Tuesday, a woman stopped at the QuikTrip and went inside and left her mother and a child in the car, said Des Moines Police Spokesman Sgt. Paul Parizek. Bruce Martin Beehler, 59, of Sioux City, jumped in and stole the car with the passengers still inside.
Des Moines police officers found the car moments later “a short distance away” and arrested Beehler, Parizek said.
Beehler was charged with first-degree theft, second degree kidnapping and third-degree kidnapping. An attorney for Beehler was not yet listed.
