A Groveport man died Tuesday morning when his pickup was struck head-on in a four-vehicle crash in southern Franklin County, the county sheriff’s office said.
Floyd E. Coyer, 76, was transported to OhioHealth Grant Medical Center, where he later died at 12:10 p.m., the sheriff’s office said.
The crash occurred at 11:37 a.m. when a tractor-trailer driven westbound on Route 317 by Anthony L. Dudley, 40, who is from out-of-state, came upon slowed traffic east of Parsons Avenue, the sheriff’s office said.
Dudley went left of center and struck a Chevrolet Colorado pickup truck head-on, the sheriff’s said. The pickup truck then spun several times, striking an SUV and a dump truck before coming to rest .
A sheriff’s office accident investigation release states Dudley is from Ragland, Georgia. However, a Google search found no town by that name in Georgia, but did find one in neighboring Alabama. Attempts to clarify that information with the sheriff’s office Tuesday and again Wednesday were unsuccessful as of mid-afternoon Wednesday.
The accident is still under investigation by the sheriff’s office and no charges have been filed.
