Minor car crash preceded shooting that killed 16-year-old near Schlitz Park in Milwaukee

A 28-year-old Glendale man has been charged with shooting an assault rifle and killing a 16-year-old after a minor traffic collision in Milwaukee on Sept. 19, according to a criminal complaint.

Prosecutors charged Davante C. Doss with first-degree reckless homicide and two felony gun charges in the shooting that killed Fabian Guzman.

Doss faces up to 99 years in prison. He is in the Milwaukee County Jail with cash bail set at $150,000.

Guzman is one of nine children who were hurt by gunfire in Milwaukee in a two-week period beginning Sept. 12, according to police. Another teenager, Jamal Sanders, 17, was shot and killed in a separate incident on Sept. 14.

Guzman is remembered as a music enthusiast and a protective brother to his siblings, according to an obituary.
