Bicyclist struck, killed by vehicle on US 10

MASON COUNTY, MI – A bicyclist was killed Tuesday, Oct. 6, when he was struck by a vehicle on US 10, sheriff’s deputies said.

The victim was a 37-year-old Saginaw man. His name was not released.

The crash was reported at 4:27 p.m. on US 10 west of Stiles Road in Mason County’s Amber Township.

Witnesses told police that the bicyclist was riding east on the eastbound shoulder where the highway has five lanes when he suddenly veered left into the path of an eastbound Jeep Liberty that was in the right lane.

Police have not determined why the bicyclist veered into the traffic lane. The driver of the Jeep was traveling at highway speed and not speeding when the crash occurred, police said.

Bicyclist killed in crash with car in Ypsilanti area

YPSILANTI TWP., MI – A Belleville man was killed Sunday night when he was hit by a car while riding his motorized bicycle along an Ypsilanti Township road.

Emergency crews were called at 7:21 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 4, for a crash involving a car and a pedestrian in the area of Stony Creek Road and Swallow Lane, south of Merritt Road near Rolling Hills park, according to the Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office.

The preliminary investigation indicates the bicyclist, 27, entered the roadway and was hit by the car, driven by an 18-year-old Carleton man, traveling north on Stoney Creek Road, police said.

The driver called 911 and stayed at the scene until emergency crews arrived and pronounced the bicyclist dead at the scene.

The driver along with his two male passengers, 18 and 16, were not injured in the crash. No other vehicles are believed to be involved, police said.

Bicyclist killed after collision with vehicle in Libertyville

Libertyville police said a man died Sunday morning after he was hit by a vehicle while riding his bicycle on the far west side of the village.

Officers responded at 3:25 a.m. to a report of an accident in the area of Route 176 and Stritch Drive, where they found the bicyclist in the road, police said.



First responders from the Libertyville Fire Department treated the man, who was conscious and alert at the scene, according to police. He was taken to Advocate Condell Medical Center, where later he was pronounced dead, police said.

The man’s identity was being withheld Sunday pending notification of family.

The vehicle’s driver remained on the scene after the crash and spoke with investigators, police said. The crash remains under investigation by the Lake County Major Crash Assistance Team and Libertyville police.
