Canadian electric vehicle company ElectraMeccanica eyes Nashville area for U.S. assembly plant

Canadian electric vehicle designer and manufacturer ElectraMeccanica named Tennessee as one of two finalists for the location of its SOLO EV United States assembly facility Tuesday.

Canadian electric vehicle designer and manufacturer ElectraMeccanica is eyeing Nashville as one of two finalists for the proposed future U.S. assembly facility of its flagship product, the SOLO electric vehicle.

The proposed plant includes an engineering technical center with facilities for electronic vehicle testing and an assembly facility for the brand’s single-occupant, three-wheeled SOLO electric vehicles, which are under production and have yet to launch commercially.

The Nashville region and the Phoenix metro area are the final contenders for the site. The company is working alongside consulting firm BDO USA to review both sites and proposals. Court denies request to dismiss case involving flight refunds, Canadian Transportation Agency – National

A Federal Court of Appeal judge has dismissed an attempt by Canada’s transportation regulator to prevent a hearing on its stance on flight credit for travellers.

Air Passenger Rights, an advocacy group, asked the appeal court in April to order the removal of the Canadian Transportation Agency’s statement on vouchers from its website, which was posted following mass flight cancellations by airlines.

The statement said the agency believes that vouchers or travel credit valid for two years are generally appropriate for airlines to give customers — opposed to refunds — for flights cancelled by carriers due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

In its application, Air Passenger Rights also asked the court to prohibit members of the regulator from dealing with passenger complaints about refunds, arguing that a reasonable apprehension of bias exists based on the agency’s statements.
