Bicycle sharing project test run starts in October-end | Chandigarh News

CHANDIGARH: The ambitious public bicycle sharing project will kick off from the last week of October, with 100 bicycles and 10 docket stations at prominent locations, on a pilot basis.
People will be able to book cycles through a mobile application. The charges will be Rs 10 for the first hour and Rs 20 for another hour. Membership will be allowed in the later phase, with charges of Rs 5 for first hour and Rs 10 for another hour.
In the first phase, 10 docking stations are set up at sites drawing heavy footfall —Sukhna Lake, sectors 16, 17, 22, 35 and 43, PGI, Punjab and Haryana High Court. A total of 617 docket stations will be set up throughout the city in the final phase. The urban planning department of the UT administration has approved the locations. Transportation of grains from Punjab comes to a halt as farmers continue blockade of railway tracks – chandigarh

The transportation of foodgrains from Punjab to other states has come to a standstill with the farmers protesting against the Centre’s new agriculture laws blocking nearly all the major rail routes in the state.

The situation is such that grain stocks in the state are piling up with the stock of rice and wheat touching 215 lakh tonne. It would be a tough task for the state agencies to manage the pile-up as fresh paddy crop, for which the procurement has already begun, is already reaching the storage points.

Nearly 170 lakh tonne paddy is expected to arrive in the mandis for procurement in October and November. Currently, 147 lakh tonne wheat and 68 lakh tonne rice is stored in the state’s godowns.
