A speeding vehicle crashed into a parked car on Milwaukee’s northwest side Tuesday, killing one man and leaving another in critical condition, police said.

The crash happened at 8:50 a.m. on the 7600 block of West Appleton Avenue, in the Capitol Heights neighborhood.

The speeding car crashed into a box truck, trapping both the driver and passenger inside, police said. The passenger died from his injuries while the driver was taken to a hospital

A woman remained in critical condition Sunday after being struck by a car in Wheeling, police said.

The crash occurred about 10:45 p.m. Friday on the 1400 block of East Lake-Cook Road, near a vehicle entrance to the Walmart there.

The woman was walking from the north side of the road to the south side when she was struck by an eastbound car, Wheeling Deputy Police Chief Joseph Licari said.

She was taken by ambulance to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, where she remained Sunday, police said.

The driver cooperated with investigators and no tickets have been issued, Licari said.

“At this time, there is nothing indicative of anything beyond a terrible crash,” he said in an email.

A pedestrian is in critical condition at an area hospital after being hit by a car Thursday night in Allentown, police said.

A 50-year-old man was hit by a four-door sedan at 7:28 p.m. at Hanover Avenue and East Linden Street, after which the car’s occupants fled on foot, Assistant police Chief Bill Lake said.

The man suffered “life-threatening injuries” and was taken to an area hospital, Lake said. Police aren’t releasing his identity.

The intersection was still closed nearly two hours later, and police were diverting traffic while continuing to investigate. Police have no details available on the number of people who fled, or descriptions.

State and county officials in New Jersey are contacting more than 200 people who were at Trump’s Bedminster golf club for Thursday’s campaign fundraiser and asking them to monitor for possible coronavirus symptoms.

If they were in close contact with the president or his staff, they are being asked to quarantine for 14 days. Officials recommend waiting five to seven days from the event to get a COVID-19 test to prevent false negatives.

Trump announced early Friday that he and his wife had tested positive for the novel coronavirus. According to a statement issued Sunday, the White House sent the New Jersey officials a list of 206 attendees.
