U.S. Marshals capture man accused of dragging police officer with car in Portage County

RAVENNA, Ohio — U.S. Marshals arrested a 22-year-old man accused of dragging a North Jackson police officer with a car Wednesday night.

Authorities found Nicholas Roman Friday morning hiding in a bathtub in a home on East Highland Road near North Walnut Street in Ravenna, according to a news release from the U.S. Marshals Service.

Roman is being held in the Portage County Jail until he can be transferred over to Mahoning County to face charges of attempted murder and felonious assault against a police officer, the release says.

A North Jackson police officer stopped Roman on Salem-Warren Road just north of Blott Road for an unspecified traffic violation, the release says.

While the officer spoke to Roman, he grabbed the officer’s arm and dragged him by the car, the release says.

The officer freed himself and Roman took off. The officer went to a local hospital for his injuries.
