Lorain police investigating fatal bicycle crash | Lorain County

A 40-year-old Lorain man died after losing control and falling off of his bicycle Oct. 6 in Lorain.

Michael Mac Mahan succumbed to his injuries from the fall, according to a news release from the Lorain Police Department. 

At 1:07 pm., Lorain officers responded to the intersection of Fulton Road and East 28th Street for a serious injury crash involving a bicycle.

An initial investigation determined a motorized Huffy mountain bike, equipped with a 50cc engine, was traveling north on Fulton Road approaching East 28th Street, the release said.

Upon approach to the intersection, Mac Mahan lost control during a left-hand turn, ran off the left side of the road and collided with a utility pole, according to the release.

At impact, he was ejected off of the bike, stuck the utility pole and came to a final rest on the side walk.

Teen found with fatal gunshot wound after car crash was a Sacramento High student athlete

Jaylen Betschart was a friendly and highly respected student athlete who had just entered his senior year at Sacramento High School, on his way to college and working toward a professional career.

The 17-year-old was found Saturday with a gunshot wound near Granite Regional Park in Sacramento. Police officials said his vehicle crashed into a power pole and detectives are investigating his death as a homicide.

He was a star athlete, a quarterback and a baseball player who loved both sports and had dreams of becoming a college athlete before embarking on a professional sports career that would allow him to help support his family, said Domina Stamas, his science and physics teacher at Sacramento Charter High School.

She said Betschart was a good student and a great kid who stayed out of trouble at school and made his classmates feel respected.

RCMP investigate fatal bicycle and truck collision in West Northfield, N.S. – Halifax

Nova Scotia RCMP say a cyclist has died in a collision with a truck on a highway in West Northfield on Thursday.

Police say they arrived at the scene on Highway 10 near Mossman Station Road after a collision was reported around 12:45 p.m.

A 68-year-old man from Lunenburg County was pronounced dead on the scene, police say.
