Police seek man who fired gun at North Austin car gathering – News – Austin American-Statesman

Austin police on Tuesday said they are looking for a man who fired a gun into the air last month during a large car gathering in North Austin.

Police said the incident occurred during a multi-agency operation on Sept. 12 to stop large groups of cars from gathering in lots near the intersection of Interstate 35 and Parmer Lane. Multiple reports of reckless behavior and criminal activity tied to the meetings, police said.

During that operation, which resulted in 22 arrests and 25 impounded vehicles, police said a fight broke out between people in a parking lot at 12425 Interstate 35 around 11:15 p.m., during which time a man fired a gun into the air.

Shots fired at vehicle of off-duty Harris County deputy working security job

Shots were fired Thursday night at the vehicle of an off-duty Harris County Sheriff’s Office deputy as he patrolled a west Houston apartment complex where he works an extra security job, officials said.

An unknown suspect fired shots at the unmarked police vehicle, striking it multiple times but missing the deputy, around 8:40 p.m. at an apartment complex on the 2100 block of Hayes Road in Briarforest, said Major Tony Huynh of the sheriff’s office.

The deputy, who was in full  uniform, had a conversation with an unknown person, got into his car and was driving around a corner when the shots were fired, Huynh said.

The deputy was not injured. He has been a police officer for eight years and employed by the sheriff’s office for five years.

Man hit by car after gun shots fired in Syracuse’s North Side, police say

Syracuse, N.Y. — After gun shots were fired in the 1600 block of Spring Street on Thursday night, a car that appeared to be fleeing hit a fence, shrubs and a man, according to Syracuse police.

The man who was hit by the car suffered non-life threatening injuries, police said.

A 911 caller initially reported that about six shots were fired at 3:27 p.m., according to Onondaga County 911 dispatch logs.

The caller reported seeing a red Jeep Wrangler drive down Spring Street after hearing the gun shots, according to scanner reports.

The man who was hit by the car was brought into a house at 1604 Spring Street briefly before officers arrived, police said. The man was then taken to Upstate University Hospital by an ambulance, according to police.

Road rage leads to shots fired at bicycle rider in Buckman neighborhood

A verbal interaction between two road users in southeast Portland erupted into gunfire Saturday afternoon.

According to neighbors (one of whom contacted BikePortland), the incident took place around 6:00 pm on September 3rd. A bicycle rider was pedaling south on SE 16th between Washington and Alder and had a verbal exchange with someone driving a car. The bicycle user reportedly said something to the effect of “There’s no need to drive like that, we both have a right to be on this road!” Then the driver pulled out a gun, fired two shots, and sped away.

Portland Police officers responded to 911 calls and located two shell casings near the 16th and Alder intersection.

After hearing about this secondhand, I contacted the Portland Police Bureau. They confirmed the incident and said neither party remained at the scene to talk with police.

Police responded to the area of Wilson Avenue SW at 42nd Street about 6:55 p.m. Friday, Oct. 2.

Grandville police said the shooting “occurred in the roadway into a vehicle.”

The victim was described as a male, although police did not identify the person or release an age.

During the investigation Friday, police partially covered the car with a tarp. It was parked in a travel lane of northbound Wilson Avenue SW.

Police shut down Wilson Avenue for hours to investigate the shooting.

Investigators said they are looking for the shooter.
