Purple Heart recipient, U.S. Marine Corps veteran from Michigan’s Thumb gets free car

CARO, MI — A Purple Heart recipient and U.S. Marine Corps veteran was gifted a payment-free car during a ceremony on Thursday, Oct. 8, in Michigan’s Thumb region.

The Military Warriors Support Foundation and corporate sponsors honored retired U.S. Marine Corps Sgt. Curtis Terry of Fostoria, Michigan, presenting him with the key to a silver Hyundai Thursday afternoon at Walmart Supercenter, located at 1121 E. Caro St. Walmart and Keurig Dr Pepper sponsored the vehicle through the Military Warriors Support Foundation’s Transporation4Heroes program.

“I really don’t think I did a lot. I mean, I did my job, I went over, did what I was supposed to do, and I signed up for it,” Terry told reporters at the event. “But getting something like this, it means a lot. It means people do care.”
