Charles Benjamin Jenkins rented a 2020 Volvo on Sept. 7 at a Fort Lauderdale towing business, then used it to burglarize two vehicles in Palm Beach, according to police.
What Jenkins didn’t know was that Palm Beach police and the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s office had arranged for their Broward Sheriff’s Office counterparts to place a GPS tracking device under the Volvo.
Now the 21-year-old Fort Lauderdale man has been charged in several “high end” auto thefts in Palm Beach, according to a report.
On the afternoon of Sept. 9, the report said, Palm Beach police watched as the rented car crossed the Southern Boulevard Bridge into Palm Beach and pulled into the driveway of a house on West Indies Drive, then opened the unlocked door of a 2018 Range Rover and took a Louis Vuitton handbag with $2,000 inside.
Officers tailed the
