Top technicians join global automotive maker

A TOTAL of 54 local trainees will be putting their skills to the test as advanced technicians with Mercedes-Benz Malaysia (MBM).

They were part of the company’s Advanced Modern Apprenticeship Class of 2020 and will join over 900 other graduates who are already part of the network.

Entering its 36th year, the apprentice programme provides a training module in developing the best automotive talents.

Noting that the company emphasises on an individual’s continuous development, MBM president and chief executive officer Dr Claus Weidner said talents are trained to be self-reliant and driven to perfection.

This, he said, ensures an existing pool of well-trained, technically skilled workforce across Malaysia.

“Over the years, we have seen many graduates join the programme and excel in their automotive career with us.

“The programme is designed to not only nurture young Malaysians by exposing them to advanced technical skills but also helps them future-proof their careers by learning from the finest in the industry.”

MBM vice-president (customer services) Jeffrey Simon said it was important to nurture local talent, moulding them into the best version of themselves as they take on the automotive industry.

“Despite the ups and downs over the last few months in the automotive industry, we remain committed to contributing to the nation’s demand for highly skilled talent in the automotive industry.”

The three-year training programme with full scholarship under the National Dual Training System is in collaboration with the Department of Skills Development under the Human Resources Ministry.
